
In the Name of God Amen the sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty nine I Nicholas Hickes of the County of Lancaster and Province of Penna being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God therefor calling unto mind the mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it. And for my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate werewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
Item - I leave my whole estate to my well beloved wife Christian Hickes and daughter Elizabeth Heiks only ten pounds to be paid to my son or daughter Pawlong and do constitute and appoint and ordain my wife Christian and Christopher and Christopher named my whole and sole Executors of this my last will and testament and do hereby disallow all other wills or testaments by me before this time named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.
