
In the name of God. Amen. I Mary Prather of Prince George's County in the State of Maryland, being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament; that is to say.
First after all my just debts are paid and discharged, I give, bequeath, and dispose of, as follows, to Wit:
To my daughter Mary McKnew, wife of William McKnew, One Negro Girl, called Selay, aged about four or five years, One sorrel horse, and one feather bed.
To my son Charles T. Prather, one feather bed & bed Furniture, One bay horse called Prince, One two year old colt called Fanny, and one Cart & yoke of oxen.
To my daughter Flavilla Turner, widow of Thomas P. Turner, One Negro girl called Charlotte, one Negro Boy called George, about two months old, and one whole Steer.
To my Son Nathan Prather the sum of Ten dollars.
To my daughter Ann Mitchell, wife of Lilborn Mitchell, the sum of Five dollars.
Likewise I make, constitute, and appoint Ethan A. Jones, to be executor of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name, and affixed my seal, this Sixth day of July in the year Eighteen hundred and Fifty seven.

The aforegoing instrument was subscribed by the said Mary Prather, in our presence and acknowledged by her to each of us and she at the same time published and declared the said instrument so subscribed, to be her last will and testament; and we at the Testatrix request, and in her presence have signed our names as witnesses thereto.

Then came Ninian Beall one of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing last will and testament of Mary Prather late of said county, deceased and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that they did see the testatrix therein named sign and seal the same and heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and testament, that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of his apprehension of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that he together with James R. Brent the other subscribing witness respectively subscribed their names as witnesses thereto, in the presence of the testatrix at her request and in the presence of each other.
