Last Will and Testament of Mary Clagett

In the name of God, Amen. I, Mary Clagett of Washington County and State of Maryland being sick and weak in Body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following (to wit)

First of all I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Mary Glaze Seven Shillings and six pence also my Side Saddle.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my son Ninian Clagget fifty Dollars.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my son william Claggett one dollar.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my son Samuel Claggett one dollar.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my son John Claggett my Negroe Man Philip and if the above Jno. Claggett should die before the Man Philip for him to be valued and to continue in the family and every one of my sons to bid for him and the highest bidder to keep him from one to another and not be sold out of the family at all, and not be under any one but my present sons living.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebeckah one Negro girl named Mary, also one Negroe Boy named Basil While she continues single and if she should Mary for the above Negroes to continue in the family.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Rebeckah before mentioned the other side my Negroe Man Harkass while she lives single and if she shud Mary for the above Man tostay with my son Nathan.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann my Negro Woman Sary also Ali and Till and to continue with her While she lives and if she should die without Heir for them to continue in the family (also) my wearing apparel to be divided between my two Daughters Rebeckah and Ann.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my ??? half the Crop, and the other half to be equally divided between my two Daughters Rebeckah and Ann also my Riding Horse to my Daughter Ann.

And I hereby nominate and appoint my son John and Nathan Executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will and Wills by me heretofore made. In Witness Whereof I ahve hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day Decemb'r 1817.
