
I, C. St. John of Conneaut Township, Crawford County, State of Pennsylvania being weak in body but of sound mind memory and jundgement do make and publish this as my last will and Testament.
First all debts against my Estate and Funeral charges shall be paid.
Second all the personal Effects of my Wife Sally brought here by her shall be and remain hers and shall also receive from my Estate a full and Lawful Dowry.
Third also that my Wife Sally shall have my Buggy & Black Mare and Fifty Dollars in Money on the settlement of my Estate.
Fourth I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Dinah Mariah for her use and support and Education Eight Hundred Dollars her Guardean shall be chosen by the Court after my Decease also all the Bedding that I have left at my decease shall be hers also all the Furniture.
Fifth I give and Bequeath to my Oldest Son Josiah for extra servises One Hundred and Fifty Dollars also Fifty Dollars more for services making in all Two Hundred Dollars.
Sixth after my decease in proper time my personal Goods & Chattles shall be appraised and returned to Court and my sons by and with the sonsent of my Executor shall sell the personal Goods and Chattles as they in their judgement think they will bring the most.
Seventh after paying off the above described Legacies the Ballance to be equally divided between my Three sons (except P. F. St. John to be curtailed Fifty Dollars).
Eighth My Executor shall have full power to convey & sell my Interest in a certain parcel of Land, House & Lime Kiln held under Article from Wm. Power to myself and Marshall M. Hammond to the said M. M. Hammond for the sum of Two Hundred Dollars Properly secured & Payable in a proper time if said Hammond cannot secure the same my Interest to be sold to the best advantage & conveyed to other parties.
I hereby appoint as the Executor of this my last will and Testament Moses Bishop of the Township of Pine, Crawford County Penna. the above will and Testament made and signed by me this Twenty Third day of March in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Sixty Five.

A Codicil to the foregoing last Will and Testament of C. St. John which shall be Administered by the same as the foregoing viz
First I want my oldest son Josiah to account to the Estate for Lumber and Logs sold last Winter which he has not expended for the use of the Family or which he has used for his own personal use in Building and fitting up at Oil Creek and what he may necessarily take in Grain and Potatoes and what is here to spare in fitting himself up at Oil Creek the Team with all its fixtures shall be possessed by Josiah & O. E. St. John jointly while I live and require the value that Team and its fixtures they must pay me on demand as I require it. I want them to assist the Executor or me while I live in disposing of what there is and careing for the Family while I should live this is to be executed as my last will & Testament this Eighth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred & Sixty Five.

Joseph Line and Wm. Anderson subscribing witnesses to the within Instruments
purporting to be last will and Testament of Chancelor St. John late of
Conneaut Township deceased and also the Codicil thereto annexed who upon their
oath & affirmations administered depose and say that they were each present
and saw the Testator C. St. John sign his name thereto and also to the Codicil
declaring it to be his last will & Testament in the one case and in the
other declaring it to be a Codicil to his last will &c at which several
times of signing he was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding
to the best of our judgment and belief.
